Through several decades of experience in the food commodities trade we have established long-term relationships with partners in origin and in market.

We foster a value chain approach, working to shorten the distance between grower and market in order to promote mutual understanding of corresponding requirements and a competitive and sustainable cost structure.

While we maintain customers throughout the world, supplying mixed containers from the U.S. or direct from origin, our primary market focus is North America, where we are proud to supply many of the leading institutional bakeries and major branded food manufacturers.

Our sourcing relationships are global as we travel throughout the world to identify and develop partners that understand the quality requirements of our market, are responsive to our concerns, and provide high quality consistent product that is cost competitive.

Organic Ingredients

In response to emerging market demand, we began sourcing and supplying organic ingredients in the early 1990's.  As the industry  further developed, we established the trading name Organic Planet to structure and focus our organic activities.

We have always believed strongly in promoting the health of the planet and its occupants through the encouragement of sustainable agriculture and the consumption of natural products with unaltered nutritive value.

Today, our organic product lines account for over half of our business activity and we are committed to the organic industry and what it represents.

Strength of a Group

In April of 2006, HP Schmid announced a strategic alliance with TJ Harkins, the leading supplier of seeds and spices to the U.S. bakery industry.  With plants in Wood Dale, IL and Paris, TX, Harkins processes over 30 million pounds of seeds and spices annually.  The facility in Wood Dale, operating as Bakers Elements, offers seed cleaning, spice/grain milling, and custom blending and packaging.  Sesame Solutions, LLC, in Paris, TX, is the only full-line sesame processing facility in the U.S.  The plant washes, hulls, toasts, grinds, and produces sesame oil.  Both facilities are AIB Superior Rated and certified organic.
